Pre-Season Friendly

Rocester 6 Chasetown 0

Scholars handed six of the best

Rocester were disappointed to discover that Chasetown decided to 'save' their first team squad for Monday evening's match against Wolverhampton Wanderers and sent their Scholarship team to Hillsfield instead.

The young visitors gave a good account of themselves but were ultimately out of their depth against a Rocester side that is taking shape very well indeed.

Only Jack Langston's 15th minute penalty, awarded after Liam Holt had been clumsily brought down, separated the two teams at the interval but the Romans completely dominated the second period and bagged five more goals to hammer home their superiority.

Luke Chapman doubled Rocester's lead four minutes into the second half, rising at the far post to send a neat header past goalkeeper Richard Woolley from Craig Hulme's measured cross.

A goalline clearance denied Hulme barely a minute later, but number three soon arrived when Holt latched on to Langston's 54th minute through-ball and cut in from the right before steering the ball into the bottom corner.

Hulme finally got his name on the scoresheet after 62 minutes when he broke into the area to slot a fourth Rocester goal, and just four minutes later Holt notched his second of the game with a simple finish after winning a duel with goalkeeper Woolley for Langston's ball into the area.

Hulme completed the scoring on 70 minutes with an excellent 18-yard strike that gave Woolley no chance.
